We are committed to uplifting and nurturing our youth by helping them increase their knowledge, strengthen their faith, develop positive self-esteem and build a noble character.
Aims and Objectives
We strive to impart an Islamic education and instil Islamic values to prepare students for meaningful participation and service in their own community and beyond.
History
Baitul Ilm’s Sunday School has been in session since 2003. Our first year, held at Barbara Rose Elementary School in Barrington, started with 52 students and 15 teachers. The following year, we held classes at Streamwood High School and shortly thereafter, moved into our current building. Over the years, we have grown to 261 children from over 145 families.
Our school year starts in late August and typically ends in the first week of June. School is in session for approximately 36 Sundays, accounting for Sundays off during religious holidays and long weekends. We are closed during the summer to allow children to spend quality time with their families. Regular Sunday School timings are 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Ramadan timing is adjusted to allow for school to end at Maghrib.
We currently hold Islamic History and Fiqh Classes for students of all ages as well as twelve levels of Quranic study sessions for every proficiency level. We also hold “play and learn” toddler classes for 2 ½ to 3 ½ year old children, in order to prepare them for a smoother transition into our Sunday School.

Future Plans
We plan to expand our building to add more classrooms and multi purpose rooms to fulfill the needs of our growing community.
Challenges
Lack of space. Families from different backgrounds and levels of faith brings a challenge in teaching.
